October 2009 Newsletter
Next Meeting: at the Overlake Round Table Pizza Restaurant Tuesday, October 27th, 7:00pm
September Meeting: We want to give our thanks to Roger Anderson and Jim Grimes who shared their knowledge and techniques on where and how to find salmon in some of our local rivers. All reports were positive on an excellent presentation by this duo.
Upcoming Outings: As a follow-up on the Roger and Jim show, we can discuss the dates and locations for Silver and Chum outings over the next month or so.
As for Jim, he will not be at this coming meeting. He and a friend will be setting up “camp” for about a week and a half over on the Grande Ronde River. Although, they will be hardly roughing it; hot showers, full kitchen, and heat in a cabin that will sleep up to six. Several other Club members will be joining them during their stay. Other Club members and past Club members also make their annual trek to the Grande Ronde. Prime time is just after the Club meeting night. This year should be super with a record “A-Run” moving up the Snake (In fact, the limit for areas of catch and keep in the Snake and Grande Ronde was bumped up to 5- hatchery Steelhead; although the most popular areas on the Grande Ronde are in the lower few miles of the river that is catch-and-release only. Also, as of press time the fish going over the last dam Lower Granite, not only were a few weeks early, but are not tailing off as early as normal either).
October Meeting: It's finally time for our Annual Service and Tackle Auction. The auction is a fun way to find bargains on fishing and outdoor items and services, enjoy friendly bidding, and generate revenue for the Club. Be sure to bring lots of stuff and/or volunteer a service or two. Everything is welcome. Be sure to invite friends, this is an excellent time to expose them to the Club. Since this also one of the biggest revenue producing activity for the Club, it is always nice to bring “new” money in. Besides, they are always welcome to become a member. And don’t forget to bring your wallet or checkbook yourself. There should be at least a few things you will want to bid on.
Annual Christmas Banquet: Be sure to mark your calendars for Monday, December 7th to join us at the Fall City Grill for our annual Christmas banquet and raffle. More details at the meeting. We will need confirmations before the November meeting date. Be sure to reserve a space(s) at this next meeting. Space will be limited and you won’t want to be left out of this end of the year blow-out.
Elections are coming: November is when we will have our elections for the 2010 Club Officers. Be thinking of who you would like to see leading the Club.
