Next Meeting:  at the Overlake Round Table Pizza Restaurant

Tuesday, January 22nd, 7:00pm

Attendance Drawing: The pot is up to $80.  Since it is the beginning of the year and we have not yet begun to collect dues, it was decided to give the members a chance to sign-up before the drawing.  Be sure to bring your dues with you so you will be eligible at the next meeting.  The next drawing will be at the February meeting.

January Board Meeting:  Eight members met on January 8th at the Overlake Round Table Pizza Restaurant.  With the previous board meeting concentrated on the Christmas meeting and this being a new year, there were a lot of topics for discussion and planning.  Topics ranged from the previous Christmas party, club leadership, outings programs, projects, and activities.

January Meeting:  Our program will be Todd Girtz, a member of Auburn Sports and Marine  and an instructor for Steelhead University.  His presentation will be “Rivers and Run Timing for Steelhead”.  The business portion of the meeting will be crammed with a wide range of topics as well.  Besides finalizing our elections there will be discussions and reports on subjects alluded to elsewhere in the newsletter.  We are interested in getting discussions and suggestions on what the general membership would like to see in the areas of short and long range planning.

JanuJanuary Outing:  With all of the unknowns of the runs and weather this time of year, we will take suggestions and discussions at the meeting on where and when we want          to congregate sometime in the week or two after we meet.

Chrismas Meeting:  Our Annual Christmas Dinner at the Fall City Grill was another success.  We had a little more room this year to move around than previously since a few club members were not about to make it.  We still raised the roof.  Everyone had a fun time during the “social” hour, the dinner was great ,and the super raffle was awesome.

The Fall City Grill does a fantastic job to make our Christmas parties a highlight of the year for us.  For next year the owner, Rich Maki, has committed to provide an etched set of glassware with a pattern that will be specifically designed for the Eastside Steelheaders

SSSportsman’s Show – Trout Pond:  With the Sportsman’s Show in Puyallup at the end of January Eastside Steelhead members will have the opportunity help kids catch some trout and get free admission to boot.  The show will be Wednesday – Sunday (January 23rd-27th) following our January meeting.  Check with Ernie Anderson if you are interested. He will get as many admission tickets as we need.

Sturgeon Trip:  Boat space filled up early for this next year.  Don Oster was able to get a hold of the Four Sea’sons out of Sea Breeze Charters for June 5th & 6th (Thursday & Friday).  This should be the best tides of the season.  The Four Sea’sons will handle up to 16 passengers.  Tentative price is $85.00 per person per day, plus tax.  Mark your calendars.  More on this in upcoming meetings.

February Board Meeting:  No holiday conflict this month so we will return to the first Tuesday of the month for our Board Meeting.  The board meeting next month will be on February 5th.

Tid Bits:  Rick Michael is scheduled for a second hip surgery on January 15th, so we probably won’t see him at the regular meeting.  Our best wishes go out to him that the surgery will be successful and a quick recovery.  More on his status at the meeting.

A s A special thanks to Milt Keizer’s friend Michael Lonie, who has donated several NRA logo items for our monthly raffles; including a thermos gun gun lock, ammo carrier, emergency kit, knife, and watch.
