April 2007 Newsletter
Next Meeting: Tuesday, April 24th at the Overlake Round Table Pizza Attendance Drawing: We had a winner last month. After being the last one to pay his dues prior to the meeting, Lorne Balanko’s name was drawn and he walked away with an extra $30 in his pocket. So this month the pot returns to $10.00. Don’t miss your chance at the pot, be early. The drawing is promptly at 7:30 pm. Get there at 7:31 pm and it could be ‘tough noodles’. Pre-Meeting Chow and Chat: Come a half hour or hour early (whatever your schedule will allow) to the meeting. Several members already do, but the more the merrier. Have dinner here before the meeting; order a pizza, grinder, or whatever and pull up a chair. This allows a more relaxed time to exchange fish stories and general chat between club members. April Meeting: As of print time, the editor was not apprised of the details of this month’s program. April Outing: Although the planned outing on the weekend following the meeting for Springers on the Lower Columbia was scrubbed, several members have made their own plans for other times this month with varying successes. Should have some reports at the meeting May Outing: We are looking for suggestions for an activity during May. Thoughts of a clean-up project are heading the list. Looking for areas that need some attention. With better weather and fewer fishing options, May would be an ideal time to clean some of the spots trashed by less consideration ‘sportsmen’. Bring your ideas to the meeting for discussion this month. Sturgeon Outing: Ernie Anderson needs deposits ($45.00) this month to reserve your spot on the Big Dipper for sturgeon fishing with Captain Ron. He has geared up with new equipment. We are set up for June 15th and 16th. The price is $78 firm, plus tax (guaranteed no fuel surcharge). Get your reservations in early for our annual trip to Ilwaco. There are only a few spots left, but we do need at least a couple more to guarantee a ‘full’ boat. Also you will want to get room reservations early as well. July Picnic: Ernie Anderson has reserved the “Red Barn” at Carnation’s McDonald Park for Tuesday, July 24th. This will be our regular meeting night. Keep your calendars clear of other conflicts so you won’t miss this summer favorite. More details will come as we get closer to July. Miscellaneous: It’s that time of year again. If you have not already renewed, your fishing license is expired. Be sure to get your new fishing license before your next fishing trip. And don’t forget to turn in your old punchcard before the end of the month. Interested in clipping fish this summer. Check with Milt Keizer. He can give you details. He has participated in the past few years. There is a commitment involved; but, besides the satisfaction of helping the hatchery fishery, there is a modest financial return for your efforts.
